As the day turned to night for sports fans, the last thing we thought we’d be hearing about was a reported shooting involving an NFL player. That’s exactly what happened though, as St. Louis Rams receiver Stedman Bailey was reportedly shot in the head and hip during an unspecified incident on Tuesday night.

The details were sketchy at first, but the main thing we learned was that Bailey was expected to survive what was initially feared to be life threatening injuries. After all, he had been shot in the head — not something you take lightly at all.

NFL Network’s Michael Silver was the first to report, with Aaron Wilson following up with more information.

Later, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport offered up more details, which make the incident sound even scarier than it already did. As Rapoport notes, it appears that he and another man were shot multiple times as they sat in their car on Tuesday night.

Not much else is known about the situation. The Rams are expected to make a statement on the matter in the overnight hours.
