As reported by ESPN, Tony Romo’s season is over after re-injuring his clavicle against the Panthers.

Ed Werder of ESPN has reported that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is out for the rest of the year, this despite the fact he has more test procedures ahead.

As such, the full extent of his injury is not yet known, but it’s reportedly safe to assume that Tony Romo will not be playing again for the Cowboys this season.

Only two weeks after Romo returned from the broken left clavicle that kept him out for seven games, the Cowboys quarterback went down during the third quarter and had to be taken out of the game. The Cowboys went 0-7 during Romo’s absence, but given how bad the NFC East is, there was some hope that the Cowboys could’ve won the division had they won out. Their 33-14 loss to the Panthers – taking their record to 3-8 – is the final nail in the coffin.

Before he went down, Romo played very poorly against the Panthers, throwing for 106 total yards and three interceptions (two of which were returned for a touchdown). This combined with the two picks he threw last week against Miami suggests that Romo hadn’t shaken off the rust that comes from being sidelined for eight weeks.

Without Romo, Dallas will be starting Matt Cassel at quarterback while hoping to play respectable football.
