Steelers try trick play, fail because it’s Pittsburgh (Video)

The Pittsburgh Steelers tried to get creative against the Seahawks, but it failed miserably.

When you try a trick play, the element of surprise is always critical to making it work. But when you surprise even yourself, then you maybe thought too hard about the play. The Steelers tried this by faking a field goal with Landry Jones throwing the ball — something he’s done in a starting role as recently as this season.

Things didn’t go well though — in fact they went horribly wrong. Jones rolled out and threw the ball to the opposite side of the field, completing the pass to the wrong team.

Just watch the horror unfold:

It looked like the Steelers might have pulled it off — but then they remembered they’re the Steelers and nothing usually goes right for them.

The real tragedy here is that the Seahawks could have had a pick-six but it all ended with a self-inflicted tackle. Seattle eventually scored to take the lead, but they should have had it on this play instead of letting Russell Wilson hog the glory. Seattle’s defense has been in need of a win recently, and Landry Jones gifted them one that they tripped all over.

Landry Jones is still the most embarrassing thing about this play though — far and away.
