The MLB Hot Stove has been turned on with the season over, and for the New York Mets, big decisions must be made.

The Mets are coming off an extremely successful 2015 season, as they were able to win the National League Championship and make it to the 2015 World Series against the Kansas City Royals.

New York wasn’t able to win the World Series against the Royals, but that shouldn’t take away from the great things they accomplished in the regular season.

Despite being the best team in the National League at the end of the season, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Mets for a good chunk of the year. Coming into 2015, the Mets knew they would have a very good rotation, but there were certainly a few question marks to say the least in their lineup.

Injuries early in the season to David Wright and Travis d’Arnaud did not help a lineup that wasn’t all that great to begin with. Last offseason’s big signing was Michael Cuddyer, but he was a huge disappointment in 2015, and by the end of the season was benched for rookie Michael Conforto mostly.

With a struggling lineup, but a chance to win the NL East, the Mets were active at the trade deadline and were able to acquire a few hitters to help a lineup that desperately needed it. A quiet move to acquire Kelly Johnson and Juan Uribe helped upgrade the team’s bench, and also filled a position of need with Wright out with spinal stenosis.

Arguably the best move of any team this season was the Mets pulling off a trade with the Detroit Tigers to acquire Yoenis Cespedes, who instantly turned the Mets’ lineup around as a force in the middle of it.

The Mets will have to be busy in the offseason if they wish to make it back to the World Series in 2016, as a few key players are free agents.

Here is a preview of what the Mets may do this offseason starting with their pitching.
