Rob Gronkowski is unlikely to miss more than one game after being carted off the field on Sunday Night.

The New England Patriots lost their unbeaten record on Sunday Night, as Brock Osweiler and the Denver Broncos won in overtime. However, they could have lost a lot more, when star tight end Rob Gronkowski went down in the 4th quarter. With Tom Brady trying to drive the Patriots up the field after a Broncos 4th quarter come back, Gronkowksi went up, attempting to bring down a ball floated in his direction.

While in the air, his right leg was hit heavily by Darian Stewart and whipped backwards awkwardly. Gronk writhed around on the floor in serious discomfort, and once carted off the field, was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Initial fears were great. Gronkowski has a long history of injuries, and with the current state the Patriots are in, finding themselves a further offensive weapon down would have been costly in the Super Bowl aspirations.

However, such fears have been briefly dispelled with Ian Rapoport reporting that the tight end is unlikely to miss more than Sunday’s game with the Eagles, and has an outside shot of being fit this week. Such a recovery will be vital for the Patriots, who have already lost Dion Lewis, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola. The Patriots’ offense has been electric so far this, but with so many weapons on the sideline, there’s only so much Mr Brady can handle. Bill Belichick will be overjoyed at the imminent return of Gronkowski, and will be hoping his tight end will be back making plays sooner rather than later.
