The Green Bay Packers are a team that’s all about fine-tuning. With Aaron Rodgers under center the team is never going to be in the early part of the draft. This means prodigious scouting to find the diamonds in the rough and help a perennial playoff contender get better.

Evan Engram is the hacksaw in a prolific offense. Chad Kelly, Laquon Treadwell and Laremy Tunsil get the front pages; Engram cleans up in the void.

Here’s a guy who is from the new school of tight ends. He can stretch the field and tends to play more like a receiver – in the Jimmy Graham mold. However, Engram is smaller than the likes of Graham or Rob Gronkowski, and to make up for that he uses speed.

Engram needs to bulk up a little maximize his effectiveness as a tight end at the pro level. With the right conditioning program, one that allows him to bulk up without losing speed, he’ll become an effective pass-blocker but also a guy who, at any moment, can burn a defense like a No. 1 wide receiver.
