Cleveland Browns

It seems as though Browns head coach Mike Pettine and former 2014 first-round pick quarterback Johnny Manziel are not only one two separate pages, they are reading two totally different books. Pettine’s Browns have the worst record in the NFL at 2-9, tied with the Titans. Manziel is still not coming to grips with the responsibilities of being an NFL quarterback.

Since re-emerging as a football franchise in 1999, the Browns have started 24 different starting quarterbacks. Pettine is opting to go with Austin Davis over Manziel now that starter Josh McCown is out for the year with a collarbone injury.

The Browns have been stuck in the mud for the last 16 years and maybe the Dayton, Ohio native is the type of coach that Cleveland needs at this time. If anybody can bring Manziel back to reality of being an NFL quarterback, it is a great teacher like Gruden who can do it.

With Cleveland being arguably the most dysfunctional franchise in the AFC since 2002’s realignment, what do the always-tortured Browns have to lose? Gruden is the type of coach that can ignite a perennial loser into a Super Bowl winner. While he did replace Tony Dungy in Tampa Bay, Gruden did get the Bucs over the top in 2003. Cleveland needs help and perhaps Gruden is the answer. Will he listen is the bigger question.
