Jason Garrett

Jason Garrett has been similar to a cat during his NFL coaching career. It seems like he has nine lives. He hasn’t accomplished much at all during his tenure as the Dallas Cowboys head coach, but for some odd reason, owner Jerry Jones (who is famous for having an itchy trigger finger when it comes to making changes) has stuck with him.

In six seasons (five full ones) as the Cowboys head coach, Garrett has a record of 44-39. That’s barely above average if you consider that the average team goes 8-8. He has been the definition of average in three of his five seasons with the team.

Garrett has only taken the Cowboys to the NFL playoffs once during his tenure with the team. It’s amazing that Garrett hasn’t been fired yet. However, Jones might have had enough of Garrett and his mediocrity. The Cowboys have been terrible this season. It’s hard to put it all on Garrett.

Tony Romo is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Romo has only played in four games this season. Romo is 3-0 this season when he has been 100 percent healthy and 3-1 overall. Romo’s health and having to deal with having Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel as his backup quarterbacks? Those two things aren’t Garrett’s fault. But he sure is an easy person to blame. Jones demands results. He’s been kind to Garrett. Don’t be surprised if Jones stops showing Garrett mercy and does what Cowboys fans have wanted him to do for a while by firing Garrett.
