The Broncos vs Chargers game wasn’t a blowout, but it was over before it even started.

3. 13. 17. 45. Final

Not many people gave the San Diego Chargers much of a chance to beat the Denver Broncos despite the latter team being without their starter and Hall-of-Fame quarterback, Peyton Manning. San Diego didn’t put up much of a fight on Sunday afternoon as Brock Osweiler and the Broncos traveled out west and took down the Charges relatively easily.

There was very little offense all game long as the Broncos scored just one offensive touchdown which was a short pass to Demaryius Thomas, proving that the quarterback and receiver developed more chemistry than they had a week ago.

Denver’s other touchdown happened to be a pick-six by Danny Trevathan which extended the leader and the Broncos never looked back.

The Broncos extended their lead in the AFC West with the win, improving to 10-2 on the season while the Chargers fell to 3-9 and are plummeting. Denver is looking solid even without Peyton Manning because of the solid defensive play.

Three Stars

Demaryius Thomas started to look like his old self, getting on the same page with Brock Osweiler. He caught six passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Danny Trevathan really sealed the deal in this one with a clutch pick-six that gave the Broncos a bigger lead which they never squandered.

Brock Osweiler had himself a decent day following the biggest victory of his pro career, completing 16-of-26 passes for 166 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Betting Odds

The Denver Broncos were 5.5-point favorites and the over/under was set at 45.5 points. Denver covered that spread, but there were only 20 points combined by these two teams.

Next Week

The Chargers will be hitting the road to take on the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday afternoon. It won’t mean much for San Diego since playoff hopes are out the window, but divisional matchups are always entertaining.

Denver is preparing to host the Oakland Raiders next week, also in a divisional matchup. The Broncos won the first matchup between the two teams and they’re looking to extend their lead in the AFC West even further.
