Rajon Rondo zips behind-the-back assist through traffic (Video)
Kings point guard Rajon Rondo hit Marco Belinelli with one of the prettiest assists you’ll ever see
Rajon Rondo hasn’t been the answer to all of the Sacramento Kings’ problems in the early part of the 2015-16 season, but there’s also no denying that the veteran point guard has found a bit of new life in Sacramento. He’s played with more energy and flare with the Kings than he has in the last couple of seasons and he put a little of that on display on Sunday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Amidst the big bodies on the interior, Rondo picked up an offensive rebound deep on the interior. Rather than try and get a shot off among the trees, Rondo zipped one of the most gorgeous behind-the-back passes you’ll ever see out to Marco Belinelli on the perimeter where the sharpshooter knocked down a three:
That pass is just incredible; Rondo is one of maybe three players in the entire league that could make that pass (and I’m honestly struggling to think of who the other three would be). You obviously need supreme skill to make that pass, but the most impressive part is the confidence to even try making that pass through traffic.
Unfortunately for the Kings, great passes don’t translate to wins automatically as they fell to the Thunder, 98-95. Still, it’s safe to say that there was no play prettier in the contest than that Rondo assist.
