Saints block extra point, score 2 points (Video)
The New Orleans Saints made history against the Carolina Panthers.
The New Orleans Saints are trying to hand the Carolina Panthers their first loss of the 2015 National Football League season, and they made some history along the way. After Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart scored a touchdown to cut the deficit to 14-13, Carolina lined up for an extra point.
This is the first time that a team has blocked an extra point and returned it for two points. The rules never allowed for it to happen, as before 2015 it would have been a dead ball. However, the rules have changed that allow for the defense to return the ball and score two points, something that took 13 weeks to happen.
Stephone Anthony is having a heck of a game for the Saints, who already scored in the first half. New Orleans is already 4-7 and on the brink of basically being eliminated from playoff contention. The Panthers can wrap up the NFC South with a victory, along with a bye week in the NFC playoffs. However, Drew Brees and the boys are putting up an unexpected fight in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
