Brandon Knight made an extremely costly error that led to a thrilling conclusion by the Grizzlies.
The Phoenix Suns‘ frustrating season continues to be exactly that, as they lost at the very last second to the Memphis Grizzlies. The two teams were tied at 93 and appeared to be headed to overtime, but Suns point guard Brandon Knight stepped out of bounds to turn the ball over with just under a second remaining. This gave the Grizzlies an opportunity to win the game, and small forward Jeff Green became the hero with an alley-oop shot. Here is a video of the Grizzlies capitalizing on the Suns’ silly mistake.
The Suns have fallen to 8-13 with their heartbreaking loss, and the Grizzlies improved to 12-9. Shooting guard Eric Bledsoe’s solid effort went to waste, but he scored 22 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists. Despite his error, Knight scored 17 points and dished out five assists. However, he is sure to enter the dog house after his costly mistake.
The Suns have been unable to make the playoffs since losing in the 2010 Western Conference Finals, and they appear to be out of the playoff picture this year too with the West being as stacked as ever. Making mental mistakes like Knight’s certainly won’t help the Suns recover from a slow start either. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are now in fourth place in the Western Conference and appear to be on track for yet another playoff trip.
