MLB Rumors: Seattle Mariners and Milwaukee Brewers discussing Adam Lind

As the Seattle Mariners continue to reshape their roster, they are reportedly looking at the Milwaukee Brewers‘ Adam Lind.

New Seattle Mariners general manager, Jerry DiPoto, is taking a sledgehammer to the Seattle Mariners’ roster as he tries to repair an organization that has spent money in the wrong places and an organization that has drafted a bevy of busts over the last decade.

DiPoto knows that the roster needs a big change, and he has been wheeling and dealing all over Major League Baseball with just about every team in the league. He’s now reportedly also set his sights on the team’s next target for their big league ball club.

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Mariners and Brewers are having discussions on first baseman Adam Lind.

Lind saw a bit of resurgence with his bat with the Brewers this past season, and has shown that he can provide power to a lineup. He also hit for a quality average in 2015, and that makes him an appealing trade option for many teams. The Brewers are a young team that is trying to regroup good young prospects for some of their veteran talent, while the Mariners are a team that still has decent big league talent that is trying to rebuild quickly, yet while remaining competitive for the future.

Lind could be a nice power bat for the Mariners. Not only can Lind play first base for the Mariners, he could also play left field or could act as a designated hitter for the team. Last season, the Mariners thought they were going to acquire a good power bat in Mark Trumbo, when they acquired him from the Arizona Diamondbacks, but he struggled at the plate and they shipped him off to the Baltimore Orioles last week.

Lind is a left-handed hitter, compared to Trumbo as a right-handed hitter, but there is no doubt that by looking at Lind, the Mariners are looking to find someone to fill that void that Trumbo could not.
