College Football results against the spread week 14:

Since the ESPN Pick Em game was done after last week, I don’t have a lot to gauge my success on this week, besides the fact that I watched all but one of the 15 games. I think I did pretty well, though I don’t always remember what I picked. Sometimes getting old sucks!

Here are the results against the spread for the last week of the regular season! It has been a wild ride, but a fun one. We still have the Army-Navy game this weekend. I will include that pick at the end of this article, and will tally that one in with my bowl predictions. Winners against the spread are in BOLD.

Here are the picks in case you would like to follow along!

Bowling Green(-13.5) vs. Northern Illinois: HIT! The Falcons are going to be a dangerous match in the bowl games because their defense has come a long way since September. Either that or the quality of competition has gone way down. Call it a combination of both.

Temple at Houston(-5.5): HIT! How about that! Houston in a New Year’s Six bowl! They drew a really tough matchup though.

Texas at Baylor(-20.5): HIT! I expected Texas to keep it close. I didn’t expect them to win. Of course, I didn’t expect Baylor WR Lynx Hawthorne to have to play quarterback for almost the entire game.

Southern Mississippi at Western Kentucky(-7.5): MISS! I knew better. When will I learn?

Georgia State at Georgia Southern(-21.5): MISS! How’s that for busting a spread? The Panthers not only didn’t get covered, but they won by 27 points! That means they bucked the spread by 48.5 points! Put them in a bowl! They have to be more deserving that a 5-7 team, right?

Texas State at Arkansas State(-25.5): HIT! This counted as easy money this week!

New Mexico State(-1.5) at Louisiana-Monroe: MISS! Sure, I hype Larry Rose, and the Warhawks hold him to 64 yards rushing.

Florida vs. Alabama(-17.5): MISS! I’m still wondering how Florida managed 15 points on the Tide defense. Don’t go advancing Alabama in your brackets just yet. If Florida can hang 15 on Bama, Michigan State will be able to stay in the game.

West Virginia(-5.5) at Kansas State: MISS! The Wildcats wanted to make sure that they deserved a bowl. They did here, winning number six and taking all the doubt out of the equation.

Troy at Louisiana-Lafayette(-1.5): MISS Okay, Lafayette is that bad. Even worse than bad since they lost by 24 at home…..

Appalachian State(-17.5) at South Alabama: MISS! I had the line backwards in the prediction piece. Appalachian was favored. They didn’t cover, meaning I lost.

Air Force at San Diego State(-6.5): MISS! The Aztecs didn’t miss a beat without Maxwell Smith. They didn’t cover either.

USC vs. Stanford(-4.5): HIT! This is the one game that I almost made my five pointer. I should have. This wasn’t much of a game.

Michigan State(-3.5) vs. Iowa: MISS! That stupid half! I was right on the under 51 though. That was the easiest bet on the slate was the under 51 on this game.

North Carolina vs. Clemson(-4.5): MISS! Well, you can’t say that Carolina didn’t have their chances. Once again, Clemson just keeps on winning.

This was a bad week. I went a disappointing 5-10 to move my season total to 381-343. I still have a good mark on the season, but my percentage slipped to 52.6%. If my goal had been 52.5, I would be right on track, but it was 55%. I can be happy with 52.5. I just need to have a solid bowl season, which has been a problem in recent years.

I didn’t fare much better in my points system. Here is the breakdown for that. Season totals are in parenthesis:

1. 0-1 (38-36)

2. 0-1 (107-103)

3. 3-6 (130-125)

4. 2-2 (76-56)

5. 0-0 (30-23)

I lost a total of 12 points this week. However, I am still at +140 on the season. Look out Vegas!

As promised, here is my pick for the Army-Navy game, the last regular season game of the 2015 season:

Army vs. Navy(-22.5) at Philadelphia: This looks high for a rivalry game, but this is Keenan Reynolds’ last shot at Army. Look for it to be a memorable one. Give me Navy.
