NFL Mock Draft 2016: Week 14 edition
By Staff
2. Tennessee Titans
If any game proved just how much the Tennessee Titans need help in the secondary, it was Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Even though Tennessee won, Jacksoville quarterback Blake Bortles looked like a certified Hall of Famer, passing for 322 yards and five touchdowns.
The AFC South is a division quickly moving towards the pass. If and when Andrew Luck gets healthy, he’ll be whipping the ball around all over the field. And then the aforementioned Bortles and Allen Robinson have quietly become one of the league’s best wide receiver duos. And while Houston is in quarterback purgatory, wideout DeAndre Hopkins is a monster.
Vernon Hargreaves is a certified stud, and quite possibly the best talent in the draft. He’s been a star in all three years at Florida, and has lined up opposite every team’s best wide receiver. He’s in the mold of Deion Sanders or Darrelle Revis in that he’ll cut the field in half, and will make any intrepid quarterbacks who test him pay dearly. It’s hard not to love a ballhawk who also locks down the opposition.
If there’s a concern about Hargreaves, it’s that he has been prone to injury during his college tenure. There have not been any serious maladies – blown ACLs, etc. – but it’s the little nicks that could add up over the course of a long NFL season. Regardless, his talent will put any uncertainties to rest.
