The 2015 MLB Winter Meetings in Nashville featured a flurry of activity, but some teams clearly came out of the fray in a better position for 2016.

When Major League Baseball chose to host their 2015 Winter Meetings in Nashville, Tennessee, the league couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop. The vast expanse of the Gaylord Opryland Resort and its internal atrium, shops, and restaurants hinted at the nearly unlimited opportunities to be had, running completely parallel to what was to be expected during baseball’s annual winter pilgrimage of free agency and trades.

In four days, Major League Baseball filled the Opryland with transactions of various nature and size, from the blockbuster trade of Shelby Miller to the sneaky-good acquisition of Starlin Castro to the Earth shattering revelation of Aroldis Chapman’s off-the-field transgression. Some teams came in with a clear plan for improvement, and seemingly executed to perfection. Others came in with high hopes and walked away empty handed instead.

While there is still plenty of offseason ahead of us, the market has taken a decided shift in just four days time, and some franchises were clearly affected by what transpired at the Winter Meetings. And while winning the winter buying period doesn’t necessarily foretell of success during the season, it nonetheless generates a buzz for fan bases in need of an offseason pick-me-up.

In that regard, there were clear winners and losers that sprung out of the MLB Winter Meetings. Let’s take a look at who stood out in both regards.
