Tom Brady may be close to getting one of his favorite targets back as Julian Edelman returned to Patriots practice today

The rest of the league isn’t going to be too crazy about Tom Brady getting one of his weapons back on the field, but they’re going to have to get over it quickly. Footage from New England’s practice today showed wide receiver Julian Edelman moving around well on the practice field. It’s only a matter of time before he’s back on the field catching passes from Brady.

It’s not as if the Patriots have been struggling on offense, but still, getting a player of Edelman’s caliber back can only make Tom Brady more dangerous. After all, he had 61 catches in just nine games prior to his injury so it’s clear that he will be one of the Patriot offenses’ focal points when he’s able to return.

Patriot fans might want to pump the brakes a little about about their excitement regarding his return date though. It’s still just 26 days after his suffered his broken foot which means he’s likely still a few weeks away from being cleared to return. It’s not as if he’s going to be back on the field for this weekend’s match-up at Houston. New England will likely try to give Edelman as much recovery time as possible. In an ideal world, they wouldn’t risk putting him back on the field until the Playoffs begin.

Patriot fans can be encouraged at Edelman’s earlier than expected return to the practice field, but they’ll have to exercise patience with their desire to see the wide receiver back in an actual game.
