The Panthers might be chasing perfection this season, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start looking at their 2016 NFL Draft plans.

Every good NFL franchise knows that the core of a team is built through the NFL Draft, and the Carolina Panthers are a perfect example. They are led by former first round picks Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly – both perfect illustrations that the team understands the importance of drafting the right player at the right position.

The Panthers front office is already hard at work researching hundreds of NFL prospects in an effort to uncover the right choices for their franchise. While they’ll be paying close attention to filling obvious needs at left tackle and safety, don’t expect the Panthers to draft strictly on need. After all, they surprised everyone by selecting Shaq Thompson in the first round of last year’s draft despite having a wealth of talent at linebacker.

Instead, look for the Panthers to take the best player available whenever possible. If that fills an organizational need then so be it, but it won’t dictate their draft strategy. Read on to discover who the Panthers might select in each of the seven rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Next: Round 1
