Andy Dalton Injury Update: Bengals QB heads to locker room

The Cincinnati Bengals are trying to get a first-round bye, and the last thing they need is Andy Dalton to suffer an injury.

When the Bengals got off to their hot start this season, Andy Dalton went from being the Red Rifle Joke to an MVP candidate critics were tarting to take seriously. It hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the Bengals, but for the most part they’ve managed to be stay above water in a rather impressive way — thanks in large part to Dalton.

The last thing the Bengals need is for Dalton to go down with an injury.

That’s what appeared to happen on Sunday against the Steelers when he attempted to make a tackle.

Early reports are that Dalton hurt his thumb, which isn’t fatal but is the last thing the Bengals want to hear. This is a team that has not gotten out of the first-round of the postseason in the Andy Dalton era, and the quarterback injuring his thumb seems like the type of subtle setback that will end their postseason run as soon as it starts.

Dalton might end up being alright, but any sort of injury he suffers is going to be bad news.
