24. team. 57.
And the Bears are back to being the Bears. After two bad beats in a row, it’s official: this season is dead.

Last week Chicago fell to Blaine Gabbert and the San Francisco 49ers at Solider Field. It was Gabbert’s first ever road win in an outdoor stadium. That’s not the side of history that you want to be on.

This time around it was losing to the Washington Redskins at Soldier Field. Yes, the Redskins are a better team than the 49ers, but good lord, man, have some self respect. The Bears had momentum heading into the 4th quarter, only to be shut out in the game’s final period. Hey, Robbie Gould, make a fourth-quarter field goal just one time.

Spinning forward, the Bears have the Vikings, Bucs and Lions on the docket. Given the way Chicago has played of late, losing three of the past four games, all of these contests look like surefire defeats. And yes, that’s even with two of the final three being played in the Windy City.

Chicago is a mercurial team that just can’t put things together. Realistically, bottoming out wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. A five-win team would have a plump spot towards the top of the NFL Draft board (even in year flush with parity), and lord knows Chicago has plenty of holes to fill.
. (5-8).
