(6-7). Previous: . buffalo bills. 12. team. 16.
Rex Ryan was pissed as all get out after Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and really he had a right to be. For the sixth time this season, the Buffalo Bills lost a game where they out-gained their opponent. For those counting at home, that’s six of the team’s seven losses.

And yet, even as Rex stares in the mirror, jaw agape, saying that the Bills were the better team, he was done in by familiar demons. How many times have we seen a Ryan-led team undone by penalties and mental errors. Outside of bottomless bravado, that’s the signature calling card for Buddy’s son.

It’s really a shame, because the Bills are actually a very good team when playing cohesively. They looked like world-beaters last week against the Texans, a potential playoff team, essentially neutering Houston’s defense. Then on Sunday, against the Eagles, they looked inept.

Pee-wee, JV, varsity, college or professional: racking up 15 penalties for 101 yards is unacceptable. Ryan and the players can gripe about officiating (which Rex definitely did in the tunnel following the game), but they also need to look inward. The Redskins, Cowboys and Jets remain – all winnable games, if the Bills can get their heads screwed on straight.
