Cam Newton has vowed to beat his best buddy Stephen Curry at a game of NBA2K.

When it comes to athletes playing video games, there’s probably not a more popular game, save for the Madden franchise, than NBA2k. It’s all about pride between friends, as they try to beat their opponents on the court with their favorite teams.

Two athletes that enjoy the game are Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry.

The two superstar athletes are the best of buddies, but know at the same time when it comes to NBA2k, there is no messing around and friendship.

In fact, the stakes are always so high when it comes to the game that Newton has vowed to destroy Curry, when they play the game next.

When the MMQB’s Robert Mays interviewed them about their friendship, Newton let him in on how he plans to win a competitive game of NBA2K against Curry.

"“Listen, man, I’m trying to tell not only him, but also the world, my thumbs are God-given,” [Newton] says. “My thumbs have been touched. I need to start coming out with this promotion company—Golden Thumbs promotions. It’s part of the Whoop Ass Tour. I can come with it to Oakland, but I don’t think he wants those problems.”"

It’s clear that Newton thinks he has the magic touch with his thumbs. Watching his play in 2015, which could very well end up with Newton winning the MVP, would suggest that he is probably onto something with the “god-given” thumbs line.

Newton and Curry might just very well be the two best at their respective sports at the moment, but when it comes to NBA2K, their friendship is put aside for what is a battle for bragging rights.
