Todd McShay released his Mock Draft 1.0 on Wednesday, but some of the picks would be really poor selections

Some NFL fans take the word of ESPN’s Todd McShay as the gospel when it comes to all things associated with the NFL Draft. I am not one of those people. I see him as a reasonably good analyst, but he’s far from infallible. In fact, his first mock draft of the season has some pretty questionable selections on behalf of some NFL teams. This piece will examine the five worst picks in McShay’s first mock.

I’m panning these picks not because McShay is wrong (necessarily), but more from the standpoint that if an NFL franchise selects the projected player at the projected spot in the Draft it would be a huge mistake. It could be an issue of on-field talent, fit with the franchise or off-the-field baggage but the result will still be the same. If these franchises make these picks their GM’s might better start working on their resumes.

We all know the NFL Draft is a difficult thing to project, but that’s what makes it so fun: the hypotheticals. So without further delay, click on through to discover the five worst picks in McShay’s first mock draft of the season.
