Andre Drummond knocked down a half-court buzzer-beater with ease

Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond is not known for his shooting ability. In fact, one of his biggest weaknesses deals with his lack of shooting ability, as he’s a historically terrible free throw shooter. However, apparently that doesn’t exclude the big man from being able to knock down half-court shots at the buzzer.

With the Pistons and Boston Celtics tied and time winding down in the second quarter, Drummond had the ball in his hands. He confidently pushed the ball up to center-court before pulling up and knocking down a jumper with ease:

This makes little sense in terms of what we know about Drummond as a basketball player. Other than the fact that he has solid ball-handling for an NBA big man and a player of his size, nothing about that situation is ideal for the Pistons. Yet somehow he just lackadaisically pulls up for a jump shot from half-court and puts it through like it’s nothing.

Are players allowed to shoot their free throws from mid-court? Because Drummond might want to try that moving forward and see if it helps. All I know is that shot at the end of the first half looked better than at least 85 percent of his attempts from the foul line.
