Round 2: DE Jonathan Allen

Improving the front seven of the defense and replenishing it with young talent is a must for the Arizona Cardinals. General manager Steve Keim has already done a great job through the draft and through waiver pickups of finding young guys that can play up front and be members of the Arizona Cardinals for a while. This year, he drafted Rodney Gunter in the fourth round, a player that many didn’t have on their draft board. Gunter has been huge for the Cardinals, and the future looks good with him on the defensive line.

The problem for Arizona is that the rest of the guys along the defensive line are getting a little long in the tooth. Calais Campbell is still just 30 years old, but eventually he will slow down. Targeting Jonathan Allen from Alabama, would add yet another young defensive lineman and a key piece to the future for the Cardinals. They’ve done a great job of putting veteran talent on the field while having young talent right behind them. Allen can be a future defensive end for the Cardinals that can get pressure on the quarterback and bring him down, while setting the edge. With the other young pass rushers on the roster, Allen could fit right in and grow with the rest of them.
