Baltimore Ravens: 7-round mock draft
A seven-round 2016 mock draft for the Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are not a good football team in 2015. There a number of reasons that’s the case, but the fact remains that they are going to finish a mile outside of the playoff picture and are going to be left with plenty of work to do this offseason. Luckily their poor showing in the 2015 season will allow them to spearhead that process by having one of the top picks in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Though things are ever fluctuating in this wild NFL season, the Ravens seem like they are a shoo-in at this point to go into the 2016 draft with a top-five pick in their hands. That will give them a tremendous opportunity to address some of their biggest needs that have been revealed throughout the course of this tumultuous 2015 campaign.
It’s been abundantly clear that the secondary in Baltimore is the primary concern for this team and is where all conversations about offseason improvements should start with this organization. They have one of the worst passing defenses in the league in 2015 and that’s due to a lack of depth with their corners, the ineffectiveness of their safeties at basically doing anything positive, and a general lack of cohesiveness and continuity with their secondary as a unit.
However, the Ravens have needs on the other side of the ball as well, most notably on the outside. While everything looks far worse down the home stretch of the 2015 season for the Ravens offense as Joe Flacco sits on the sidelines due to injury, what has plagued them all season—even with Flacco—is a sincere lack of weapons.
Part of that is due to the fact that rookie Breshad Perriman’s injuries prevented him from having an impact this year, but also because they have essentially zero depth at the position. While it’s often uncharacteristic for the Ravens to do such a thing, it’s a position that they need to address in the draft for the second consecutive year.
There are plenty of other potential needs for the Ravens heading into this draft, including a high-upside pass-rusher to add depth and potentially adding some more depth elsewhere in the offense. The Ravens come into the draft having seven picks, though they do have two selections in the fourth round while not having one in the fifth. With these picks, they should be able to at least try to address their most dire needs going forward.
