Former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas has a moronic, NSFW way to make the WNBA “better”

Gilbert Arenas was once one of the best players in the NBA. However, his decline was far more rapid than his rise to prominence as injuries, dissipating skills, and off the court issues essentially derailed his career immeasurably. Since his playing days have ended, Arenas now makes his bones by saying incredibly moronic things on social media—such as a gem he posted on Tuesday night.

Arenas posted an NSFW video of two women playing basketball in their underwear and said that he would have “season tickets” to the WNBA if this is what the players looked like and how they dressed. He had plenty more to say in the post that was just bafflingly stupid (Again, the video and the post are NSFW):

Just checking in to make sure this is still 2015? It is? Great, because Arenas’ thoughts on this had me a little bit confused.

If there has ever been a more chauvinistic way of viewing a situation such as this, I’ve never heard of it. Forget the fact that there’s not anything wrong with the WNBA product as it stands; the fact that Arenas’ solution to the perceived problem (which is actually only a personal problem he has with the league/himself) is to basically sacrifice the quality of the sport in lieu of over-sexualizing the league and objectifying women is simply reprehensible.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or even the most progressive thinker to see the stupidity in Arenas’ millings here. This is just a masters course in being mindless and insensitive and he deserves every bit of admonishment he gets for this.
