2nd Round – Pick #60

The Broncos might be losing either Trevathan or Marshall in free agency, leaving its 3-4 defense without a key piece in the middle of the unit. If that should be the case, look for Elway to attack this weakness in the draft where he could hit a potential home run with Arizona’s Scooby Wright. Wright is not the most athletic player on the field but he has tremendous instincts and perhaps the best motor in the land. Wright is perfectly sized for today’s inside linebackers, standing at 6-foot-0 and 230 pounds. Once he adds a bit more muscle, he should be able to top out at 240 pounds.

Denver needs to make sure this defense stays elite, because the offense will continue to feel some growing pains. Despite it being his second year at the helm, Kubiak needs to completely install his offense after trying a hybrid style while Manning was under center. Wright’s presence would be a nice one to have for a Denver defense that is very reliant on its linebackers to make plays. Slot Wright next to Von Miller, and the Broncos could have one of the most dynamic groups in the league for a long time to come.
