The 2015 season hasn’t been kind to the Detroit Lions, but this mock draft could bode well for 2016.

The 2015 season has been a nightmare for the Detroit Lions. After five games, it was seeming possible that Detroit could wind up as the second 0-16 team ever — only to follow up the franchise’s performance in 2008.

Offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi was fired because of his lack of creativity in the play-calling department and people were already calling for Jim Caldwell’s job. He showed flashes of being a great coach in his first season, 2014, in which he took the Lions to the playoffs, only to lose their first game.

While it looks like Caldwell will be back in 2016, barring some type of extreme collapse in which the Lions lose out, Detroit should be looking toward the NFL Draft at this point. Sure, free agency is also a place to start, but the draft is where this team is guaranteed to target the guys in which they want at positions that need to be filled.

This complete seven-round mock for the Lions is a mixture of perfect scenarios and team needs. It will feature players who the Lions should be going after if available at their spot in each round. Detroit isn’t going to get every player who it desires, but this list should be a wish list for most Lions fans.

Each round’s pick is based on player projections and team needs. Players weren’t chosen because they were slotted to likely be the best available, but the Lions should be keeping an eye on each one of these team needs as they’re all projected to, or around, the correct round listed.

Disagree with any of these picks or believe there should be a different position chosen in a particular round? Let us know in the comment section below.
