8. Russell Okung-Seattle Seahawks

He might not be the best Russell on his own offense, but he’s still a really good NFL player. He’s an above average NFL left tackle and those don’t exactly grow on trees. Seattle would be wise to lock him up in an effort to keep their “other” Russell happy and safe.

Don’t let the fact that he hasn’t developed into an elite starter color your view of Okung. Being above average at that position still gets you paid like a star. If the Seahawks blink and let him hit the open market they’re going to find out that keeping him is really expensive.

I don’t expect that to happen, though. The Seahawks haven’t built their strong roster by accident. They’ve been making moves to prepare for the need to resign certain guys over the past year. Okung is a guy who fits into their long-term plans as long as his contract demands don’t equal that of an All-Pro. Look for him to get a rich extension from the Seahawks before he’s able to test the market and start what would certainly be a bidding war that Seattle would regret.
