Chicago White Sox one smart move away from playoff contention
Yoenis Cespedes
In Cespedes, the White Sox would get a legitimate run-producer whom they can put in the middle of the lineup. His 35 home runs, .291 batting average and 109 RBI’s fit nicely in the fourth or fifth spot in the batting order. Cespedes could easily bat behind first baseman Jose Abreu, giving him additional protection that the addition of Todd Frazier already is expected to provide.
There is a downside to adding Yoenis Cespedes though, as he has been moved around a lot. When looking for reasons as to why he always seems to get traded, one can only dig deep inside of the clubhouses of the teams he played for. Its difficult to fathom how three teams have voluntarily sent Cespedes packing in spite of his production. The presence of his fellow countryman Abreu may put him at ease.
Abreu is the most recent of Cuban-born players to join the White Sox. Having him already on the team, along with the possibility of Alexei Ramirez re-signing with the team would give Cespedes some level of comfort, if he were to sign there.
Imagine how much Yoenis Cespedes could help the White Sox if he continued his hot hitting.
