Indianapolis Colts vs. Miami Dolphins

The Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins have both had seasons that didn’t turn out as either team would have expected them to. The Dolphins were that popular pick to make the playoffs in 2015, and even Harvard picked them to make the Super Bowl. The Colts were considered a perennial lock to win the AFC South.

Neither team finished anywhere near expectations for a variety of reasons, and it looks likely that both teams could see some big sweeping changes to their organization after the season. The Colts are still alive in the AFC South race, but at this point it’s going to take a miracle and a win on Sunday, to keep those hopes alive.

Details for Sunday’s game are below.

Date: Sunday, December 27
Time: 1:00 p.m. ET
Location: Miami, FL
Stadium: Sun Life Stadium
TV Info: Fox
Live Stream: NFL Sunday Ticket

Keys to Victory

For the Miami Dolphins, it’s time that their big off-season acquisition, Ndamukong Suh, makes a mark on defense. The Colts are down to Matt Hasselbeck at quarterback, and if Suh can get after him, the Dolphins are going to create a lot of problems defensively for the Colts.

That puts the onus on the Colts’ offensive line. They have to be able to protect Hasselbeck and give him time to throw and provide some running lanes for their running backs. They’ve been getting manhandled lately and it’s been a problem for them all season.

If Hasselbeck can get time to throw on offense, he needs to find T.Y. Hilton. Hilton was critical of the Colts’ play-calling this week and the Colts need to make him happy and get him the football. If they can get him the football on the road against the Dolphins, they will have a good shot at winning.

Lastly, Ryan Tannehill needs to find Jarvis Landry on Sunday. The Dolphins are at their best when the two players are on the same page. If they can exploit the Colts’ secondary and hook up, then the Dolphins should be home favorites.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Miami -2.5

Prediction

The Indianapolis Colts are the more desperate team and they have a great veteran in Matt Hasselbeck at the helm to lead them. The Dolphins meanwhile are ready to call it a season and go surf on the ocean. It’s an ugly one, but the Colts make a big pass to T.Y. Hilton late for the win on the road.

Pick: Indianapolis 13, Miami 9
