Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl Odds & Prediction
By Mike Marteny
Here are the odds and prediction for the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl!
The bowls are more than half over, and though I haven’t watched all of them between holiday festivities and work, I don’t think I am off to that great of a start. My bowl mania picks were doing okay until Nebraska beat UCLA. I still have the against the spread picks to go, and from the looks of it, it will be a struggle to stay at .500 in bowl season. I still will finish in the black in the points system though.

In case you missed how the point scale works, here is a brief rundown:
5. A lock. I am comfortable making a sizable wager on this game.
4. Very confident. Not quite a lock, but I am comfortable making a decent sized wager on it.
3. Middle of the road. Good enough that I would make a small wager on it.
2. Could go either way. So much so that I wouldn’t bet on it.

A lot of talk has been focused on the Aggies, and not in a good way. It seems as though Kevin Sumlin’s game of musical quarterbacks was not a victimless crime after all, as not one, but both of the quarterbacks involved filled out the paperwork to transfer. That means that junior college transfer Jake Hubenak will be the starter in the bowl game. Hubenak has thrown only 27 passes all season! The Aggies were rolling along with Kyle Allen at quarterback until Allen had a horrendous game against Ole Miss. Then true freshman Kyler Murray entered the lineup…for a month. Then it was back to Allen. The end result was a stunted development of two talented quarterbacks, not to mention true freshman WR Christian Kirk. Can the Aggies rebound for a bowl?
Louisville has had quarterback issues of their own, but the Cardinals settled on true freshman Lamar Jackson, and they have looked better for it. They stayed close to Houston and Clemson, both of whom are in New Year’s Six bowls. That said, Louisville has turned into a run-first team with the elusive Jackson under center. That could actually help them against an A&M team that really gets after passing teams, but have had trouble against run first teams Alabama, Auburn, and LSU.
I find it hard to believe that A&M can keep their head above water here with a new quarterback, but on the other hand, Louisville doesn’t have much tape to watch on Hubenak. Who knows, maybe the Aggies rally. It is enough to keep my confidence low in this one, and I actually think the line has gone too far the other way. Louisville likely wins, but I think it stays really close.
My pick: Texas A&M
