Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo discussed the possibility of surgically attaching a plate to his collarbone in order to combat further injury to the area.

Its been a rough season for the Dallas Cowboys. After claiming supremacy over the NFC East last term, the Cowboys suffered numerous setbacks attempting to replicate their former glory. Injuries were a huge stumbling block for the Cowboys as key players missed major game time. The most troubling of these setbacks came in the form of two collarbone injuries sustained by starting quarterback Tony Romo in September and again in November. In an interview with 1310 The Ticket yesterday, Romo mentioned the possibility of taking further medical precautions to prevent further injury to the area.

While appearing as a guest on Norm Hitzges’ Norm-a-thon, Romo had the following to say on his injury and rehab:

"We have a few ideas of what we can do with the collarbone. There are a few plans. We’re going to pick out the CT scan and some of the other stuff and see how much calcification has taken and whether it’s gotten to a point where we feel like it’s really strong and it will be able to handle some of the normal hits you take. But we’re going to have a good plan. If we have to put a plate in there, something small, we’ll do that. That should ensure that that doesn’t happen, or the percentage of that goes way, way down. From my perspective, I feel very strongly about the way that I’m going to be able to play going forward."

Romo will be hopeful of changing his fortune for next season, as the superstar only played a total of four games this season missing ten in total. The Cowboys currently sit at the bottom of the NFC East with a record of 4-11.
