When news broke about Chip Kelly being fired, Twitter knew about it before the Philadelphia Eagles‘ players did.

The Philadelphia Eagles shocked everyone on Tuesday night, when the team decided to fire their head coach, Chip Kelly. The move was announced through an e-mail by owner Jeffrey Lurie, which was posted on the team’s web site.

As with all big breaking news, the news of Kelly being fired was spread around Twitter immediately. Everyone was talking about Kelly getting fired and what it meant for the future of both Kelly and the Eagles’ organization.

While the general public finally found out about Kelly being fired, the Eagles’ players had not head about Kelly being fired. It was another instance of people on Twitter hearing about things first.

So the Eagles’ players are shocked by the news of Kelly’s firing, even though most should have probably seen the writing on the wall. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Acho is dropping some subliminal tweets about the situation.

Regardless, it’s interesting that they didn’t tell the players before they announced it, which means they didn’t want the information to be leaked out.

It’s not often that this type of news has a tight lid as well as the one Lurie put on it, but the players sure feel blindsided by the news.
