USC Trojans vs. Wisconsin Badgers

The USC Trojans have been disappointing with unsettling consistency during the 2015 college football season, but have been unbeatable whenever they are on their game. They’ll need to be on their toes as they take on the Wisconsin Badgers late on Wednesday night in the 2015 Holiday Bowl.

Kessler is the obvious key for USC in this game, but he’ll need the likes of Juju Smith-Schuster, Tre Madden, and Ronald Jones II in this game if they want to pick up a Holiday Bowl win. Meanwhile, the Badgers are getting Corey Clement back into the offensive fold for this bowl game, but Joel Stave and their vaunted defense will be their keys to success.

Keys to Victory

Even with the return of running Corey Clement for Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl, the Badgers offense has been quite limited all season. However, that only makes their defense even more integral to their chances for success in this game. The Badgers have been the best scoring defense all year, allowing a paltry 13.1 points per game. Against an explosive Trojans offense, whether or not the Wisconsin defense can stifle their opponents will likely determine the outcome of this matchup.

Meanwhile, the key for the Trojans is going to be Cody Kessler, as it has been for several years now for USC. Kessler has obvious talent and is tremendous when he’s on his game. He’s going to have to avoid a letdown game in the Holiday Bowl and has to limit his turnovers against the stingy Badgers defense. How he performs in this situation and this big of a game will likely carry or cost USC this game.

Prediction

Even with the stoutness of the Wisconsin defense and the inconsistency of USC this season, I just think that there is too wide of a talent discrepancy in favor of the Trojans in this game. Moreover, this is basically a home game for USC. Not only do I have USC winning in the 2015 Holiday Bowl, but I have them doing so relatively convincingly.
