Florida Panthers wear ‘Kevin Spacey in Space’ sweaters

Professional sports teams are no stranger to having weird things to unify a team, but the Florida Panthers may have it to a whole new level.
It has been a well-balanced attack for the Panthers this season, as the team currently has eight players that have totaled 18 or more points. The Panthers have been playing very good team hockey on the ice, and one of the reasons for that appears to be the team’s unity off the ice.
The Panthers are currently on a seven-game winning streak and are in first place in the Atlantic Division, but their team’s sweater is what is drawing attention to the team. The team has been giving out a Kevin Spacey in Space sweatshirt to the team-MVP of the game, and the sweatshirt features a picture of Spacey’s face floating in space.
You won’t find this sweatshirt in any local department store, and the Panthers have been very quiet about the meaning behind the sweater. Spacey is the star of the hit Netflix show House of Cards, where he plays President Frank Underwood, but the sweatshirt likely has no direct link to the television show.
It is possible that the team really enjoys the show, like some teams that are big wrestling fans carry around the WWE Championship Belt, but the Spacey in space sweatshirt is oddly hilarious.
Florida likely won’t spill the beans about the meaning behind the sweatshirt, but the man who is featured on it appears to know the meaning behind it.

The Panthers have played their final game of the year 2015 already, as they capped off the year with a great 3-1 win against the Montreal Canadiens. The young Panthers, who are being led by veteran Jaromir Jagr will start the 2016 portion of their schedule against the New York Rangers on January 2nd, as we’ll have to see in the sweatshirt continues to bring good luck in the new year.
