Steph Curry is officially a game-time decision against the Dallas Mavericks.

Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors are off to a booming start to the 2015-16 season as New Year’s Day approaches. However, Curry is a game-time decision after having an MRI on his sore leg.

It’s not the end of the world for Curry to miss time now. The extent of the injury will be better known once he completes the MRI and doctors have time to assess the soreness. The good news is that having a muscle that is sore usually isn’t a severe injury and players don’t usually miss an extended period of time.

Yet, if he can’t go against the Mavericks, then other players will have to step up in his absences and knock down consecutive, double-digit points like he did in the team’s previous game this week.

While NBA fans wait out the news if Curry will play against the Mavs, the severity of the injury can’t be too bad if he is listed as a game-time decision rather than questionable or out. In the end, it wouldn’t be such a bad thing for Curry to have to relax now since the Warriors are favorites to return to the NBA Finals this year. Sitting out a game or two know could pay dividends down the road when a team’s stamina is truly tested throughout the playoffs.

One thing is for sure: The Warriors will have to tweak their offensive game plan if Curry can’t go against the Mavs. They are a multi-faceted offense, but Curry is the true ring leader of it.
