Appalachian State football got one last jab at their fellow North Carolina football programs before 2015 came to a close.

For many of the football teams in North Carolina it was a good year, but Appalachian State led the way based on overall record. The football program made sure every one knew who came out on top with one final New Year’s Eve troll job.

In only their second year competing in the Sun Belt Conference and FBS, Appalachian State made a statement in the Camellia Bowl, beating Ohio to finish 11-2 on the season and better than any other FBS football program in the state. While the program is on top of the state, the football team wanted to make sure everyone knew who was the best FBS program in North Carolina based on overall record.

With 2016 less than a day away, the fight to be the team on top resets as Spring football will be here before the fans and teams know it. Appalachian State can celebrate in knowing they made history in 2015, but 2015 as a whole will soon be in the past and know one will care how they did in 2015 once the 2016 season kicks off.

It was one last way to troll their FBS counterparts in North Carolina. They know once 2016 hits everyone starts back at 0-0.
