No. 14 Houston Cougars vs. No. 9 Florida State Seminoles

The Florida State Seminoles have put together a strong 2015 campaign, despite losing many key seniors and juniors from their last two teams that have won a championship and made the College Football Playoffs. Despite all the losses that the Seminoles have had, the team has stuck together well and put together a strong 2015. They will look to finish off a strong season on Thursday, when they play the Houston Cougars in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

The upset-minded Cougars come into the game looking to knock off the Seminoles. The job that Tom Herman has done with the program has been nothing but a major success. Everything the team has worked for this season has led to this point.

Details for Thursday’s game are below.

Date: Thursday, December 31

Time: 12:00 p.m. ET

Keys to Victory

Florida Sate Dalvin Cook put together an impressive season in 2015, despite being hampered by injuries. Even worse for Houston, Cook has had almost a month to rest up and should be ready to roll when the Seminoles take on the Cougars. Cook is quick enough to outrun a defense and he’s strong enough to run through a defense as well.

Houston is going to have to stack box and make sure that Cook doesn’t break free. Houston has struggled from time to time on stopping running backs this season, but the unit has shown some flashes of being able to stop the running game. It’s going to take a complete effort on Thursday.

Florida State is going to have to stop Houston quarterback Greg Ward Jr. on Thursday. Ward Jr. has shown that he can make plays with both his arms and legs. The Florida State defense is going have to make sure they don’t let him get loose and don’t bite on any fakes.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Florida State -7

Moneyline: Florida State -105

O/U: 55.5

Prediction

The Seminoles are going to have their hands full with a talented Houston team that wants to prove that they can beat any team in the nation. It’s going to be up to guys like Jalen Ramsey to make plays defensively for Florida State. The Seminoles pull out a close one in the fourth, but the Cougars give them everything they can handle.

Pick: Florida State 28, Houston 27
