The Iowa Hawkeyes finally got on the board in the Rose Bowl with a beautiful catch and run from Matt VandeBerg.

The Iowa Hawkeyes failed to score a touchdown in the first three quarters against the Stanford Cardinal in the Rose Bowl on Friday. After cornerback Desmond King busted a big punt return deep into Stanford territory, the Hawkeyes finally got on the board.

With pressure coming at Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard, he threw a beautiful pass down the sideline to receiver Matt VandeBerg, who caught the pass and sprinted to the end zone with the ball for the first Iowa touchdown of the day.

It was a great pass by Beathard, but an even better catch and 36-yard sprint by VandeBerg.

With the way things had been going all night for the Hawkeyes, it was only fitting that they missed the extra point after finally scoring their first touchdown on the night.

It’s been an ugly night for Iowa, and it’s a night they will probably like to forget, but the good news is that they didn’t get kept out of the end zone against Stanford, which is never a good feeling for an offense.

It’s the small victories that count sometimes.
