The Knicks are reportedly interested in trading for Brandon Jennings.Â
We have officially entered 2016, but the NBA trade deadline is still over a month away. That doesn’t mean teams aren’t looking at deals they might want to make — including the suddenly interesting New York Knicks.
According to Frank Isola from the New York Daily News, the Knicks are interested in ‘several’ point guards with Brandon Jennings being on that list.
"The Knicks, according to a source, have interest in several point guards including Jennings, who finally returned to the lineup after rupturing his left Achilles tendon nearly 11 months ago."
Jennings was passed over by the Knicks in the 2009 NBA Draft when they selected Jordan Hill rather than a point guard they badly needed. In the years since, New York hasn’t been able to fill that void at the point, but trading for Jennings might help do that.
Of course, Jennings is coming off of a major injury, and it would be very much like the Knicks to trade for him and then have the guard flame out. There’s hope that Phil Jackson and company can fix the team though, as Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis are the foundation of the team with Jennings looking like a guy who can fill in that third gap on the Big 3.
That’s asking a lot from Jennings, but he’s shown flash and flare in the past and could be the Knicks long awaited answer at point guard.
