After suffering an injury prior to the season getting underway, Jordy Nelson’s jersey sales took a hit.

Over the course of the past few seasons with the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball, wide receiver Jordy Nelson had become one of the more popular players in all of the NFL and he was really beginning to make quite the name for himself. However, 2015 was not kind to him whatsoever.

During the preseason with the Packers, Nelson suffered a knee injury that would keep him out of the entire season, sort of hampering the Packers’ passing game in the process. Again, he was one of the more valuable assets this offense had, so losing Nelson was going to be a big blow one way or another.

Well, aside from the Packers’ passing attack, the other thing that took a hit was the jersey sales of Nelson, which is something that we maybe all could have seen coming.

According to the DICK’S Sporting Goods Jersey Report, which reflects sales both nationwide and online, since the beginning of the season Nelson has seen the biggest drop of any player that suffered an injury, as his sales dropped an average of 26 spots.

That is a pretty significant drop, but again, it was a drop that you could have predicted coming. When you have a player that won’t be on the field for the entire duration of the campaign, then yes, people are going to lose a little interest and the sales are going to plummet.

The good news out of all this is that it’s looking like Nelson will be all healed up and ready to go next year for Green Bay, so when he’s out there making those catches once again, he’ll have his sales back on track.
