The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly met with former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly about their head coaching vacancy

The San Francisco 49ers made a stunning head coaching change when they fired Jim Tomsula after just one year on the job. The 49ers job is thought to be one of the more attractive head coaching vacancies in the NFL. According to ESPN, the 49ers have met with former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly about the vacancy.

Kelly would be an interesting fit for the 49ers. He would likely have very little, if any, control over roster moves because his tenure with the Eagles was filled with questionable roster choices. Chip Kelly could try to rebuild his reputation with the 49ers and try to prove that he can still be a great NFL coach.

Kelly expressed interest in the 49ers head coaching vacancy earlier in the week on Monday the 4th  and could be intrigued by Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick is a mobile quarterback and Kelly has had success with similar quarterbacks in the past. He would have a relatively young team to work with as well.

The 49ers are still interviewing head coach candidates, but it looks like Kelly might be the early favorite to get the job.
