Seattle Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka is getting ready for potentially the coldest game ever by freezing footballs.
The Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings are going to play in potentially the coldest game in NFL history on Sunday. With temperatures expected to be sub-zero and the windchill factor to make things even more cold on the field, it’s going to be a brutal day out in the stadium.
That means certain things are going to be a lot harder than they normally are. Kicking field goals and kicking the ball in general is going to be a lot harder, as the ball is going to virtually be as hard as a rock in the ice cold.
To prepare for what will be a tough day of trying to kick the football, Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka spent his time preparing for the cold atmosphere in Minnesota by freezing footballs and then kicking them.
There’s not many fun ways to get ready for kicking a big block of ice, but Hauschka knows that he is going to have to make some big kicks in a playoff environment on Sunday.
It’s best to prepare for the environment and get used to the pain of kicking a frozen football out of the way earlier. Road playoff games are never easy and every point counts.
That’s why Hauschka is spending his time freezing footballs to prepare.
