Los Angeles Lakers trying to sign DeMar DeRozan this summer?

The Toronto Raptors shooting guard, DeMar DeRozan, has been a fixture in the Raptor colors since his career began during the 2009-10 campaign. At the age of 26,  DeRozan has been the face of the franchise since being drafted by Toronto during the 2009 NBA Entry Draft.

In 482 career games north of the border, he has been the dominant player of the franchise playing 16,279 minutes as a professional basketball player.

Former Raptors Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady and Chris Bosh all left for ‘greener pastures’. These three men had great careers in Canada but left either via free agency or insisting they wanted to be dealt out of town. In Toronto, there is a growing sense that DeRozan will bolt for the United States.

The California native, DeRozan, has let it be known that he would like to test free agency at the conclusion of the 2015-16 NBA season. Prior to joining the NBA, he played college basketball at USC.

According to CBSsports.com, The Los Angeles Lakers have interest in the Toronto Raptors superstar. The arguably greatest player of the game, Kobe Bryant, is expected to be retire at the conclusion of this season at the age of 37. They have had a season to forget as after the first 38 games, they only have eight victories to their record. The Lakers will definitely want to improve on this season’s disgrace and would love to get their hands on the Toronto Raptor.

In contrast to the Lakers, the Raptors have won 24 of their first 39 games. They are heading across the Atlantic Ocean to face the Orlando Magic in London, England. DeRozan and point guard Kyle Lowry have been the glue that has kept this team competitive in the Eastern Conference.

The NBA All-Star game is in Toronto, Canada this year. It is not certain yet but there’s a strong chance that DeRozan will be the Raptors representative.

Publicly, DeRozan is saying all the right things. He has said that he loves the city of Toronto and it seems that the city of Toronto loves him too.

Whether he stays in Toronto or leaves this summer, the DeRozan story will be interesting to watch play out.
