Clemson’s Artavis Scott made a beautiful run after catch to pull within one score of Alabama

The world seemed to be crumbling around the Clemson Tigers in the fourth quarter of the College Football Playoff National Championship against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Clemson started the quarter ahead, but saw their lead devolve into an 11-poin deficit. However, Deshaun Watson and Artavis Scott weren’t going to let their title hopes slip through their fingers that easily.

After running back Wayne Gallman broke off a huge chunk of yardage to get Clemson really rolling after the Tigers allowed a 95-yard punt return touchdown, Watson found Scott in the middle of the field, allowing the receiver to make some moves through the Crimson Tide defenders and find his way into the end zone:

That was a clutch play and drive by Clemson to get on the board at all on that drive. However, they did go for the two-point conversion after the six points and failed to convert, leaving them down by five points late in the fourth quarter.

Even if Watson and Scott weren’t going to quit on the Tigers, someone should have sent that memo to the Clemson defense and special teams. While the offense was showing no quit, the other areas of the team were going full Clemsoning in the biggest moment of the season.
