Jon Robinson is hired as the next Tennessee Titans general manager.

The Tennessee Titans have announced that Jon Robinson will become the next general manager of the team, replacing Ruston Webster. Webster has been in charge of brining in the Titans most recent failed draft picks, which made the fanbase and ownership grow weary of his tenure in Nashville. Webster’s best draft pick was Marcus Mariota in the 2015 NFL Draft, but that pick was a no brainer because the team needed a quarterback in the worst way.

Jon Robinson has been in Tampa Bay for the last two seasons as the director of player personnel. The Buccaneers did not have a playoff team this season, but they did win six football games, double that of the Titans. The Buccaneers have brought in the correct personnel over the past two years to get the team where it is today, and Robinson has been right in the middle of it all. Robinson is coming to a Tennessee team that is lacking in every area except quarterback. The Titans need to add explosive pieces around Mariota, so he has someone to get the football to, while creating a solid defense to give the offense the ball more frequently.

The Titans own the first overall draft pick in this year’s NFL draft. The team has multiple options on what to do with this draft pick, but the most lucrative option could be trading it away to stockpile draft picks. This is one of the most depleted teams in the NFL, talent wise. The Titans need all the bodies they can get, and there isn’t one player in this year’s draft that is so head and shoulders above everyone that the team is forced to draft them. It will be interesting to see what Robinson does with this pick, but Titans fans hope he can draft better than Webster did.
