According to Goal, Manchester United could be lining up a massive bid for Real Madrid star, James Rodriguez.

Manchester United have not had the most memorable of seasons. They have already been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in the group stage, and currently sit in sixth in the Premier League table, with just 34 points from 21 matches.

On Friday, Goal.com reported that the Red Devils could be looking to bolster their squad with a big-money move for Real Madrid star, James Rodriguez. The article suggested that a source has told the website that the Premier League giants have been notified that the Colombian could be available.

The 24-year-old has only made seven league stars for the Spanish club this season, with playing time difficult to come by under former head coach, Rafa Benitez. However, even under his successor, Zinedine Zidane, Rodriguez still hasn’t been able to earn a start.

In Real Madrid’s 5-0 route of Deportivo on January 9th, Rodriguez made an appearance off the bench in the 65th minute when the game had already been sealed.

The Colombian made the move to Madrid from Monaco in a whopping transfer that cost the Spanish side 80 million euro ($88 million) in August 2014. Acquiring Rodriguez’s services was one of the reasons Real Madrid felt comfortable selling Angel Di Maria to Manchester United last season.

However, with Real Madrid being handed a year-long transfer ban by FIFA on Thursday, they may be reluctant to let any current stars go knowing that they would not be able to immediately replace them.

Rodriguez may not be too keen to play under current Manchester United head coach, Louis van Gaal, either, after Italian striker, Luca Toni, came out on Friday to claim that the Dutch tactician does not like Latin players.
