Rudy Gay buries game-winner to top Jazz (Video)
Rudy Gay rose up to knock down a contested jumper that put the Kings over the Jazz on Thursday night
The Sacramento Kings had a hefty lead over the Utah Jazz for most of their matchup on Thursday night, taking an 11-point lead into the fourth quarter. Thanks to a big effort from rookie Trey Lyles, though, the Jazz fought back to make it a tie ballgame with only seconds left on the clock. However, it was Lyles who just couldn’t quite do enough to stop Rudy Gay in the waning moments.
With the clock winding down, Lyles was all over Gay on the right side of the floor. However, the veteran Kings forward found an iota of space and rose up to try and knock down a jumper with just a couple seconds left on the clock. Buckets:
Lyles was able to get off a halfcourt heave after Gay’s dagger, but it was no good and the Kings forward was the hero for hitting a massive game-winner.
Gay has quietly been having a great season in Sacramento while the likes of Rajon Rondo and DeMarcus Cousins have been stealing most of the headlines. Now if only he and his teammates could put it all together consistently as a team to the tune of more wins like Thursday night’s over Utah and things could be looking up in Sacramento.
